How To Look For Quotes For Car Insurance

September 17th, 2009

by Zack Dupre
A month or two before your current policy expires is a great time to begin looking at quotes for car insurance.

While you may hope to never have to use your car insurance, there are state laws that require you to keep it in effect. In addition, if you have a loan on your vehicle, then you will be required to keep insurance on your vehicle by the loan company. If you have an accident or your car is stolen, then the insurance will pay for repair or replacement. If you cause an accident then insurance pays for the property damage and medical costs of the persons in the other vehicle.

There are some people who never look for a new auto insurance quote. They simply let the old policy renew, year after year. This mistake can end up costing you several hundred dollars per year. Your situation may have changed since you bought your first policy from that company and you may now qualify for a new rate schedule that your agent may miss since you have not ask for an updated quote.

You can get auto insurance quotes in several ways. Of course, you could walk into several agencies and ask each one for a quote. This very old fashioned way of getting auto insurance quotes is not employed much any longer. The cost of gasoline has people looking for other ways to find insurance quotes.

Auto Insurance Reviews- How Can They Help You?

September 11th, 2009

Every driver in the United States is required to carry automobile insurance, and everyone’s trying to secure the best coverage and lowest premiums possible for cheap auto insurance. Auto insurance reviews are a fantastic tool to aid you in your search for the best deal possible. The Internet is a wonderful resource for obtaining multiple quotes from a variety of companies, and for reading consumer reviews of companies you’re considering. While a single negative review might not mean that you should run for the hills, a consistent pattern of dissatisfied customers should definitely raise a red flag in one’s mind.

There are several things to keep in mind while you’re reading reviews. First, make sure that you’re reading reviews from a neutral source. Reviews of competing companies posted on a website maintained by a competitor are likely to be engineered to convince you to sign on with the website’s owner. Search for reviews on independent sites that specialize in product and service reviews, and that have a large pool of reviews to read. This large pool will give you a more adequate sampling of customer’s experiences and feelings. Your state insurance commissioner also maintains a database of information about the insurance companies in your state; in many states, this database is accessible online. If necessary, call the commissioner’s office and ask for hard copies this data. It is also prudent to check with the Better Business Bureau about any companies you’re seriously considering; if there are many complaints lodged against them, look elsewhere.

Compare Auto Insurance Premiums To Unlock Hidden Savings

August 28th, 2009

by Morgan Hamilton
When we look for ways to cut our expenses, we often overlook one place where with a little effort we can save more than we would ever imagine: our auto insurance premium. Most of us just pay it and get on with life not realizing that there are ways to shop and compare and save money. Rates are not all the same everywhere and with every agency. There are steps you can take.

It is not, however, a wise idea to sacrifice sufficient coverage for a lower monthly premium. There are many things that influence automobile insurance premiums. It is helpful to have an awareness of what these influences are in order to find ways to lower your premium without lowering your coverage.

We often think our only option is to raise our deductible. The deductible is the amount of money you pay up front when you file a claim. You pay a pre-determined amount of the claim and the insurance company then pays the rest. Raising the deductible does lower your monthly premium payment, but should you have to file a claim, the insurance company will pay less and you will have to pay more.
